JICA/MP-RHP is abbreviation for the Technical Cooperation project in the area of Reproductive Health jointly conducted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP) for the welfare of women and new born children in the State. Our goal is to reduce Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) through improvement of the quality of services. As an integral part of the State programs of NRHM/RCH-II, the Project aims at facilitating five Districts of Sagar Division to implement their Implementation Plans. In the second phase of the Project (Jan. 2007 - Jan. 2011), four laboratory Blocks of two Districts (Damoh and Tikamgarh) have been selected for development of operational systems and methods, which, after field testing, will be disseminated to the entire 37 Blocks of five Districts through the State health administration.

On the utility of ANC skill check list ------------- “Madam yeh kitab to aisi hai ki isko pad kar jise training nahi mile hai wo bhi ANC check up kar sakta hai aur kisi ko sikha bhi sakta hai” (This skill check list is such that anyone can do the ANC check up while following its instructions and can also teach an untrained person), says Laxmi Panika, ANM, Taradehi, Tendukheda, while undergoing hand holding session (practical coaching on field) conducted by the JICA team. On the format and utility of ANC card ---------------- “ Sabhi card mein se yeh sabse achcha hai. Isme sabhi kuch ek jagah hai aur saari jankari hai.” says Sudha Pathak, ANM, Dhilla, Prithvipur while expressing her satisfaction on the ANC card. Empowering the LHV ------------- “ Madam abse main har mahine sabhi ANMs aur MPWm ko ek center par bula kar ANC clinic lagvaoongi. Is se unki practice bhi ho jayegi aur eke k kar ke sabhi center ki ANC ka check up hote chalega.” says Poona Sahu, LHV, Dhilla, Prithvipur indicating her willingness to scale up and regularize the practice of ANC clinics in her Center. The ANC clinics which till now were being organized under the supervision of the JICA team are now being organized by this LHV for the skill practice and monitoring of her workers. LHV initiates the practice of data validation ---------------- “Maine apki ki tarah sabhi ANMs ke records check kiye hai aur usme tippani bhi di hai”, says Poona Sahu, LHV, Dhilla while commenting on the way she has learnt the skill of data validation from the JICA team. She regularly checks the records filled by her ANMs and points out faulty data. Being well versed with the field of her sector, she is able to point any made up data also. Expressing gratitude on the man power planning done by JICA --------------- “Aisa karne se mera kaam bahut kam ho jayega aur jada kaam ho sakega—Madam aap log aise hi bich bich mein aa kar hum logon ko guide karte rahana” says B.K. Gautam, LHV, Khargapur while expressing her gratitude to the duty division and day planning doe by JICA team. The case load is very high in Khargapur and manpower planning was done by JICA consultants in a manner to distribute her work load and also ensure on the job training of the new ANMs. Wondering why no one undertook this micro planning exercise before ------------ “ Yeh itne simple tarah ki planning hai aur aaj tak kabhi pehle kisi ne nahi karai na hi humne iski sochi”, says Kunti Raikwar, ANM Tejgarh, on the micro planning initiated by JICA team under the SLIS intervention. Parameters like accessibility, population, geographical layout etc. were mapped and micro plans for ANC and immunization coverage made under the SLIS intervention. Sector meeting – Taradehi sector MPW Mr. Podi Kamlesh Loharia said “Sir jab se JICA aaya hai, humne unke bataye hue karya kiye hai. Hamari gaono mein bahut izzat badh gayi hai. Sab hame samman dene lage hai. Pehle hum kabhi jaate hi nahi the. Ab hum apke bataye microplan ke hisaab se hi work kar rahe hai.” [The day since JICA has come and told us what to do, our status has increased in the villages. Everyone has started respecting us. Earlier we never went to the field. Now we work according to the microplan suggested by you]. On ANC training LHV, Ms. Leela Rajput said - Through this training we have learnt to take history of the pregnant women very minutely. We have also been provided with instruments like BP apparatus, uristix, haemoglobin estimation kit etc. hence, it will be easier to do complete check ups of the pregnant women at household/village level for those who cannot come to the health facility. Since all the check ups will be done, the pregnant women will be prevented from dangers/complications during pregnancy and this will help in reducing maternal and infant mortality rate. |
